Leading the “responsible cleaning” charge for the past twenty years, Seventh Generation has tapped into the disinfecting power of the herb thyme, to introduce an EPA registered line of disinfecting sprays and wipes that kill germs* naturally! The new line of botanical disinfectant cleaners includes a multi-surface cleaning spray, bathroom cleaning spray and wipes.
I was sent some of these products to try, and here are my thoughts.
I like that the cleaners are natural, and not filled with harmful chemicals. The cleaners do have kind of a different type of smell, but it does not linger, like most cleaners do. I was very thankful to have the Disinfecting Wipes, these type of wipes are not something that I usually buy. We have had 3 kids with the flu at our house recently, and it was nice to be able to use these wipes to wipe down all the light switches and handles to make sure the rest of us stay healthy.
You can print coupons for Seventh Generation products HERE. There also will be some coupons in the Sunday 4/11 RP insert. Plus, don’t forget about the $5.00 rebate when you buy 3 Seventh Generation products.
Seventh Generation has partnered with eco-lifestyle consultant and author, Alexandra Zissu, whose new book, The Conscious Kitchen, discusses what’s good for your health, what’s good for the planet and what tastes great. Her book also includes great tips on maintaining a green and healthy kitchen.

This year my son who is in 5th grade was learning about recycling at school. We didn’t recycle then. With his new knowledge and help we have since started recycling and all my kids LOVE it. My youngest are 2 1/2 and 4 yrs, they love putting the plastics in the containers. It’s like a game for them. My hubby loves the idea of less trash cans he has to roll to the curb! LOL I wish we had started sooner, but now we are on the right track! Thanks to my son for giving me the jumpstart I needed!

one big thing we’re doing to help the planet is making a concerted effort to conserve water. we now take short (5 min), cool showers; not let the water run when brushing teeth, doing dishes, lathering hands, etc. re-use any water possible for watering plants. also, we have a rain barrel in our backyard and selected drought tolerant plants for the garden. when i learned that only 1% of the earth’s water is available for drinking and that 1 in 8 people across the planet don’t have access to safe water, i didn’t want to take our supply for granted or waste it.

We try to buy the basics to avoid packaging and recycle what needs to be. We use vinegar and baking soda for most cleaning. We also use only cold water for laundry and 80% of the time line dry the clothes. We also do most of our shopping at tag sales or thrift stores.

I’ve suffered from chemical sensitivity for years. Detergents with dyes and perfumes made me break out into hives, the ill chosen scented lotion would leave me itching for weeks and if a man walked into our office with a touch to much cologne, I went into a sneezing attack! I LOVE that there are products that keep me from being choked by all the toxic chemicals I was cleaning with before! I’ve been trying to use products like Seventh Generation (sorry, that sounds like I’m in a commercial for them, but really that’s how I’m being environmentally friendly this year. 🙂

gosh, I do lots of things for the environment and have for over 25 years…before it was vogue…so glad that maybe this time around it will take on strong…”some” things I do…and tips…recycle, bring my own bags to store, have a very small car, all appliances are energy sufficient, as is all light bulbs, recycle all kitchen waste/produce etc. for garden, make many of my own cleaning supplies, only run dishwasher on full load…so many more…if peeps will incorporate one idea you are helping sooooooo much. One last tip, if your toilet is not an water saver…place a filled water jug in the tank.
