Here are all of my finds from today, all of these items were bought at the Kent and Federal Way store. I do have to say I was reluctant to post these, because I have received some “hate mail” saying that I am crazy for buying so many toys and that I am just spoiling my children. So, I would like clear a few things up first:
- All of these items purchase are not for my children. I do NOT give my children more toys just because I got a good deal.
- I buy ahead of time for all of my nieces, nephews and children’s friend birthday parties. My nephew is only 5 months but I already have his birthday present, and Christmas presents for the next 2 years. It just makes sense to buy them now when they are 75% off then paying full price when I need them.
- I do sell a few items on Ebay, but I do not take all of the items. I just grab a few here and there. Ebay has been very good to our family, there was a point where the money we made on Ebay helped to feed our family. This year my plan is to sell some items so we can earn enough money to take my entire famiy to see the Nutcracker for Christmas (somthing I have always wanted to do!).
- I have several sisters and friends that work or have small children, I do the shopping for them .(See tip #9).
- I also buy extra items now so I can give away at Christmas time for Toys for Tots, The Giving Tree, or so we can adopt a family or two. By shoppping clearance sales now, it makes it easier for me to be more generous.
I know that I don’t need to defend myself, and It’s not what other’s think about me, but I really don’t want anyone to think poorly of me, especially over some silly toys. So, now that I cleared that up, here is what I found today. I did find a couple of items that I hadn’t seen at any stores before, primarily the items in the photo below.
Thomas Cargo Drop 7.48
Thomas Colin the Crane 9.98
Thomas All Aboard Station 12.48
Thomas Speak & Greet Oval set 17.24

That is so lame people sent you hate mail. Maybe they are just jealous you are a good deal finder! PS I think it is great you plan ahead, and that you share your deals. In short I think you are awesome!
Annette says
I think it is awesome that you share the deals. A lot of people wouldn’t even know it was 75% off if not for your posts.
Kristen says
Do you ever sell on Craigslist? It has helped get bills paid here sometimes.
This is the first time I have bought items on clearance to sell online, so I am hoping to make a buck or two.
Happy shopping!
Kristen

Hate mail? Really? Maybe they should take all of the free time they obviously have (to sit and write hate mail) and go out looking for bargains themselves! Even if you do spoil your children, that’s your business, not “theirs”. Keep saving, girl!
Rebecca Foxworth says
Oh, my goodness! Any logical person would just ASSUME those toys were not ALL for your kids…that some were pre-buys for birthday party invites and other children you know. Some people aren’t happy unless they’re hatin’ on somethin’, I guess.
Thanks for all you do for us!

Thank you for letting us know about the Target clearance deals and your tips. The people sending the “hate” mail are probably mad because they didn’t to the toys first 🙂
Jen says
The people sending you hate mail are just jealous that you got all of these deals!! I went to three stores this morning and had multiple full carts. I don’t do Ebay but I will be giving them all as gifts or donating to toy drives at Christmas!
Christy says
Thanks for making me feel better everyone! You all are the best!
Kristen, I haven’t personally used Craiglist, I prefer Ebay, because then I don’t have the hassle of people coming to my house or meeting me somewhere.
I do have 2 friends that sell on Craigslist and they have done great with it. One of them even makes some pretty good money, and she has made it her job. She picks up stuff at garage sales, fixes them up and then sells them on Craigslist.

I wanted to tell you how much appreciate your postings about Target toy clearance. This past January was the first time I have taken part in toy stockpiling and it has already saved me a few hundred $’s for birthdays. I love being able to go into my toy stockpile and pull out a nice toy that I only spent $5 on. And I can’t wait to donate the extras to my church and the toy drives this Christmas. Being Thrifty doesn’t make you selfish. Thank you for all you do.

Hate mail??? seriously people need to get a life! I think what you are doing is great and has probably helped a lot more people than you even realize. I did the same thing as you, my nephews/nieces, friends kids all have b-day presents bought for.

You don’t have to explain anything. That’s your perogative. Great Finds. Good Job!!!!

I just wanted to say Thank you!!! You gave me so much heads up on the sales that I was able to get all of my kids Christmas and Birthday gifts all in this one sale. I truly appreciate you letting others know. I don’t think you are selfish otherwise you wouldn’t have this blog helping others save money. You put so much time into this to help others. You could do the opposite and keep all of your info to yourself. Thanks again, for all the excellent tips that you give me to help our family save money!

You are doing great, and I love coming to your blog to see what you find, and hopefully I can go out, and find a great find like you. People that are rude, have to try to make others have a bad day. Your doing great, and hey if you were to give all those toys to your kids. I’m sure they would love it! Thanks for all you do!

I’ve got to say that I appreciated this tip more than you will ever know. I am a teacher and it just seems like every year I am crunched for time during the holidays and my own kids’ presents come second to taking care of my students. With this sale, I was able to shop for my two and for students in my class that may be in need. So, anyone looking at my cart probably thought that I was spoiling my little guys rotten, but God knows our hearts. And that’s all that matters! Thanks so much!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing your deals, I’m going to check out our local target and see what they have. This is the first year I’m trying to do christmas shopping throughout the year to save $$! 🙂

So great! I spent about a hundred on X-mas and birthday gifts. I also found a Britax car seat for my mother-in-law for 50%off. I didn’t find any Playmobil or Legos (what I was looking for) but found a lot of great stuff. My favorite was a video game for my son for his birthday, a V-tech pocket game for 12.48 and two games 4.48 and 5.48. I thought I might miss it yesterday but luckily it went today. Gig Harbor, WA.

WOW!! You did awesome. I must say it sickens me to hear that people are writing you hate emails. You are incredible and in no way did I even think badly. I was impressed. Heaven knows we all need gifts and items for charity all year long. Thanks for posting and for all your time spent helping me personally!! Words cannot express my gratitude towards you.
HUGS!!

I can’t believe you would get hate mail. I bought most of what you did and it is all for my son. This is pretty much what he will get for his birthday and Xmas. As well as, he earns toys throughout the year. I never get him toys at full price unless it is something really special that he has asked for.
I think it is fine if all of the toys were for your kids. At least you are not spending a lot of money on all of it.
averi hughes says
I think its too bad, you even have to explain! 🙁 The amount of toys a child has has nothing to do with whether they have the attitude problem of being “spoiled” …I’ve seen spoiled children who only have a few toys and those that have tons and everything in between. Thanks for tipping me to the clearance sale today, I love you site.
Nancy says
Okay, I have to say that I am jealous of all of your deals but that’s ok. Sometimes I get the deals and sometimes someone else. I “toy stockpile” for xmas and bdays, too. If I didn’t we couldn’t give nice gifts to our friends and family. I’m doing the Craigslist and eBay thing now so we can eat, literally – my husband has been unemployed for 6+ months. So I have no ill will for anyone else doing it. And I hadn’t thought of the Toys for Tots angle. That is a reason in itself. You go, girl!
Cassidy says
Thanks so much for posting about the clearance…I stumbled across your site a short while ago for the first time so my timing was perfect! I was able to get a nice little stockpile for Christmas presents this year. Last Christmas, due to a number of unexpected expenses, it was a stretch to spend $50 (even though my husband was working two jobs!) and that really doesnt go very far for two kids when you have to pay full price. Its a relief to know that this year, even if we get slammed with more surprises, at least Christmas is already taken care of!

Thank you very much for sharing your bargins with us. You take the time out of your busy day to help us save money. I do the same thing, buy ahead of time for birthdays, christmas, family, friends, and even complete strangers, not just for christmas but year around a little toy or a small gift brightens anyones day. Thanks to your blogs, i can find a bargin on everyday needs. Thanks again have a blessed day.

I read your posts daily and love to hear about the deals and thankfully to you since reading your blog for the past year have saved quite a bit of money and have learned some really neat ideas to with my family. The hate mail that you have received saddens me to know that people are one, so judgemental and two, most likely very hypocritical. If it weren’t for you sharing the deals that you have found some of us wouldn’t be able to have our children’s face light up on Christmas morning when they see all that Santa brought them because in today’s world we wouldn’t be able to afford it. Thank you for sharing everything that you share and for the huge heart that just by reading your blog daily I know you have.

When asked yesterday about my full cart, my simple response “Isn’t the treasure hunt fun?” and walked away. No one’s business what the intended purpose of one item or carts full is….

I wouldn’t worry about what others are saying. I am thankful that you do post this information. I did my first toy clearance buy in Jan, but I didn’t get to the store until that night and it was picked over, although I did get quite a few items for my son. This time though I lucked out and was able to get there as they were marking everything down. I was able to get enough items for both my 5 year old daughter and my 7 month old son that I am covered for Christmas and his first birthday (Dec). I also got several extra items that I can give as gifts. I sent messages to several friends and they were able to get there to get several items as well.
If you didn’t share this info then I would say you were being greedy but you put it out there for everyone to see.
Kristi says
Thank you so much for your posts. I was able to let all my family and friends now about it. We all saved a ton! The last few years a good part of our kids gifts came from consignment shops, etc… and maybe one or two things from the store and it still cost us more then was comfortable. Christmas and Birthdays will be much less pain free this way. Thank you soooooooo much!
Esther says
Who in their right mind would think you give all these toys to your children?! Oh brother! I think it’s great that you can purchase these items to save and gave as gifts for years to come. And reselling on ebay is a fantastic way to make money. You are smart shopper!!
tina reynolds says
Sorry you got hate mail, some people are very childish. Just jealous because they did not do it. I bought a ton of stuff and it was for my kids it was most all of theIr Christmas and Birthday. I have 3 kids so it looked like a ton of stuff, because it was all purchased at once, but in the end it was not really any more than most would buy for Christmas and birthdays. I had some one give me grief at the target, I only purchased one of any item, I was buying just for my kids. I would love to do the ebay thing too but didn’t have the extra money right now. I told here to basically mind her own business. If you pick it up first and pay for it, it does not matter what you do with it.
Mesha says
OMG…Please tell me where you got that Hexball for $0.98!!! Target charges $4!!! I take technical classes in school and these things are GREAT for my projects!!
Christy says
Mesha,
I got the hexball at Target for only .98. They were on clearance back in August. Target clears out a lot of their toys twice a year (August and January). You can find lots of great items at 75% off.
