We have a family full of Disney fans! We have visited a Disney park every year for the last 3 years, and keeping our fingers crossed that we may get to visit in December of this year (I would LOVE to see all the pretty lights at Christmastime). Half the fun of a Disney trip is the anticipation and the PLANNING!! I seriously love to plan our Disney trips, and I read every book I can get my hands on. I recently had the opportunity to check out Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers by Lisa M. Battista.
This book is a little different than your average Disney guide book, because it focuses on giving you ideas on how to enjoy the parks with preschoolers in mind. The beginning of the book focuses on preparing for your trip, and I really thought she had some great ideas that I wouldn’t have even thought of, like preparing your children for the characters they will meet.
Here are some more of the features that I really loved about this book:
- The list of things that are a “Must Do” at each of the parks (and what ages they are good for)
- The planning checklist, which is even broken down into months ahead, week ahead, days ahead, etc.
- The Packing list for preschoolers – this is always helpful no matter how many trips you have been on. We always seem to forget something. It’s nice to have everything written down in one place.
- Tips for entertaining the kids while waiting in line (this is a must!)
- Run down of rides that have a FASTPASS option (we love using the FASTPASS option!!)
- List of places within the park that a great for taking a break with your preschooler
- Maps of each park that point out the locations of all the best preschool type attractions.
This book is filled with lots of great ideas to help you makes the most of the Disney Parks with your children, from the very beginning planning stages all the way to coming home. If you plan on heading to Disney World with preschoolers, I recommend you pick this book up to help you make the most of your trip.
