This is great project to do with kids. They will have tons of fun baking the cookies, adding the frosting and sprinkles. These trees will make a fun addition to your gingerbread house or they are pretty on there own.
Christmas Tree Cookies stacks:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/2 flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
Frosting:
- 1 cup butter

- 2/3 tbsp milk
- green food color

You will need a set of 3-5 cookie cutters that are different sizes, but the same shape. For the trees you can use circles, flower shape, or stars. Here is a link to Amazon with a set similar to the one I used.
Whip butter add sugar and continue to mix. Add egg and extract. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until will combined. Cut out the cookies you will need for your trees. Small trees use 3 sizes and large trees use 5. Bake at 375 degrees You will want to bake them by size: Large 10 minutes, Medium 7-8 minutes, small 5-6 minutes and tiny 3-4 minutes. Keep an eye on the cookies, baking times may very depending on size. Let cool.
Make frosting, whip butter, add vanilla, gradually add powder sugar and milk. Add green food coloring add to decorator bag with star tip.
Assemble the trees by starting with larger size and add frosting around the outer edge of the cookie, stack another cookie and repeat until finished.
Here are the sizes I used for each tree:
Small
- 3 medium
- 3 small
- 1 tiny
Large
- 2 ex-large
- 3 large
- 2 medium
- 1 small
- 1 tiny.
Finish by decorating with sprinkles, Dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
