School is just around the corner, and at our house the minute the kids come home from school they are immediately looking for something to eat. I try and have fun healthy snacks around to keep them from eating junk food. California Raisins are an all-natural, dried-by-the-sun fruit you can feel good about offering as an after-school snack.
California Raisins are a great choice for wholesome, healthy, on-the-go snacking. Here are some snack ideas that are a hit at our house.
It’s fun to make shapes with healthy snacks. Here I took apple slices, carrots, celery and raisins to make a cute butterfly perfect for snacking. I haven’t met a kids who doesn’t love fun food!
Spread crackers with Nutella and add California Raisins in the shape of numbers or letters to make the snacks fun. With this snack my son is eating and learning!
This is a classic snack that just never gets old…Ants on a Log. Celery, peanut butter and raisins. My twelve year old can’t get enough of this delicious crunchy snack.
Again can’t go wrong with peanut butter in our house. Here I served sliced apples with peanut butter and sprinkled with rolled oats and raisins. I also did the same with sliced bananas by adding peanut butter, oats and raisins.
My kids seriously love these snacks! Heathly and happy kids make for a very happy mom!
These trail mix bars make a great snack or a very quick breakfast on those mornings where you may have gotten a late start (Yah, that NEVER happens at our house – wink wink!). I usually make a double batch of these tasty treats because they never seem to last long at our house.
Trail Mix Bars:
- 2 cups Rolled Oats
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 1 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Melted Butter
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 1 cup Sliced Almonds
- 1/2 cup Raisins
- 1/2 cup Coconut Flakes
- 1/2 cup Mini Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
In bowl combined all dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, melt butter and add honey, stir together. Drizzle butter and honey over dry mixture and toss with a fork. Press onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper ( about 1 inch thick). Bake at 325 for 10-15 min. Cut and Enjoy!

Just be careful to NOT share your raisins with your dog! Grapes and raisins will cause acute kidney failure.
