I am sharing the 2nd half of our Disney World vacation. If you missed the first part, make sure you read part 1 of our Disney World trip report. It explains why we were taking this vacation with just one of our 5 children and where we stayed and what we did on our first day at the Parks.
On our second day we headed to Epcot. We got to try out the newly designed Test Track, and sadly we all kind of liked the old ride better. This ride seemed too commercial (it is sponsored by Chevrolet), the whole ride didn’t really flow or make much sense like the previous one did. I wanted to love it, but I didn’t. Give me Radiator Springs Racers over Test Track any day!
We of course had to stop by Club Cool to try out the soda flavors from different countries. Make sure you try Beverly, it’s delicious! (wink, wink)
We traveled through all the counties in the World Showcase and watched the show and performances. It was fabulous! One of our favorite stops is The Voices of Liberty, they are amazing. Make sure you check the park schedule each day to see who is performing and at what time. Here are some of our faves:
- Matsuriza – Japan
- Serveur Amusant – France
- Voices of Liberty – The American Adventure
- Jeweled Dragon Acrobats – China
We figured since our son is heading to France for 2 years it only made sense to eat at Les Chefs de France. This was by far my favorite meal! One, the food was amazing and two, I got to hear my husband speak in French to our waiters. It was kind of HOT! My husband also served his mission in Paris, France, so he speaks fluent French. I don’t have that many opportunities to hear him speak in French, so this was fun and did I mention…HOT? Also, the two waiters we had were delightful (one was training the other, that is why we ended up with two). I would gladly come back and pay the high price for this meal even if we didn’t have the FREE dining plan next time. The entire experience was perfect!
Day 3 was spent at Hollywood Studios. Oh my goodness…the Toy Story Midway Mania ride is so popular here. It’s not even the busy season and all of the Fast Passes were gone an hour and 20 minutes after opening. Luckily, we were able to load our FastPass+ choices onto our MagicBands before we even left on our trip, so we were guaranteed a short wait. If you head to Hollywood Studios, make sure your first stop is at the Fast Pass machine so you can ride this ride without having to wait in the long line. It’s a fun one!
One thing we did here that we have never done before is watch the Light, Motor, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. It was spectacular and totally worth doing. My husband now want to change his job from finance guy to macho stunt driver. I think this happens to all guys who see this show.
Another thing we tried for the first time was the Animation Academy, all 3 of us got the chance to draw Jiminy Cricket. It was a lot of fun. I’m not good at drawing at all…I even struggle with stick figures and I think I did fairly well.
We were able to end the evening with The Osborne Family – Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Totally gets you in a Christmas mood!
We then headed for a late dinner at one of our favorites – O’hana. Unfortunately, I ended up getting sick and wound up in the emergency room, where I got a different kind of bracelet. Trust me…the Disney MagicBand was way cooler than this bracelet. No worries, I was fine and in a mere 6 hours (at 4:30 am) I was released from the emergency room and we headed back to our room for 3 hours of sleep so we could catch our breakfast reservations the next morning. We had reservations at a popular restaurant that we had to hold with a credit card, if we were “no show” we would have to pay $10 per person. I just paid a large sum of money to the hospital, I wasn’t about to lose more money.
We started off with breakfast at Tusker House where I “forgot” to inform my husband and son that it was a character meal. My son was a good sport! The meal was good and they have a nice variety of food. If you go here, try the Jungle Juice!
We have only been to the Animal Kingdom once before, which happened to be at the end of August with the lovely humidity they have in the summer. While we were there this time it rained all day. I’ll gladly take the rain over the heat and the humidity any day. I have to say I really enjoyed this park much more the second time around. It’s so bright and colorful and it has some really great attractions.
We experienced the Flights of Wonder bird show for the first time, and it was amazing. We all love the whole show! We sat in the perfect spot, because we were directly in the flight path that the birds took. I guess I should say my husband and son were in the perfect spot, I however had a fear of things with wings and tried my best not to scream every time a bird flew inches above our heads. I totally recommend this show, you won’t want to miss it!
We also so the Lion King show and the Finding Nemo show. We enjoyed the Lion King, but Finding Nemo…not so much. We may have enjoyed it more if we had a small child with us (but I am not even certain that would have helped).
We ended our evening at Downtown Disney so we could spend all of our unused snack credits on treats and snacks for the flight home the next day. We started with 15 snack credits and only used 4, so we had 11 to spend. We didn’t snack nearly enough!!
It was another wonderful Disney vacation! If you have a Disney vacation in your future, you might be interested in the other Disney posts I have. I do my best to save as much money before we leave on vacation so we can just focus on having fun when we get there and not worry about spending money.
