These fun homemade paper mache Easter eggs are great for decorations or you can stuff them with easter goodies for baskets.
Here are the supplies you will need:
- Tissue paper you don’t need much (1 sheet will make about 4 eggs)
- 3/4 Cup Elmer’s glue
- 1/4 Cup Water
- Brush or sponge
- Paper Punch (or stickers) for decor ~ I used dots & flowers
- White paper
- Ribbon (if desired)
- Water balloons
- Candy
- Very small glasses
First step mix glue and water in a small bowl
Cut tissue paper into 1″ squares, and punch out your dots and flowers out of white paper
Blow up water balloon to desired size
Using a brush or sponge covered with glue add tissue paper to balloon and layer, use several coats of glue and tissue paper. You can’t use too much glue!
Make sure you add as much paper as you can to the top where you tied the ballon so do don’t have a big hole you will have to patch, you just need it big enough to be able to poke a finger through.
Set on small glasses to dry, after a few hours turn the eggs around to dry bottom. Let them sit overnight.
Once they are dry, you can decorate with dots, flowers, ribbon etc.
Once they are completely dry, cut balloon at the top. The egg will cave in a little as the balloon detaches itself from the tissue. Use your finger to push the eggs back to it’s original shape.
Fill the egg with candy or other goodies. Close off the top of egg with tissue and glue and place back on shot glass for glue to dry one last time.
You are all done and now you have super cute eggs the kids can tear into, and find their treasures inside!
