We love making these Frozen Chocolate Bananas! They make a great treat in the summer and it’s a fun alternative to an ice cream bar. You can customize them anyway you want with additional toppings. Our favorite is to coat them with chopped nuts.
Frozen Chocolate Bananas:
- 6 bananas (medium or small)
- 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (I use the Ghirardelli brand, they works great and taste amazing!)
- popsicle sticks
- optional toppings (chopped peanuts, coconuts, candy bits)
First, peel the bananas and cut off about an inch on one of the ends. Push a popsicle stick through the end where you cut the banana.
Next, with a double boiler melt chocolate chips or you can use a microwave, just microwave in 30 second intervals ands stir. When all chips are melted, dip and coat bananas in chocolate. Roll chocolate coated bananas in nuts, or other optional tasty toppings. Place in freezer for at least 2 hours.
Once their time in the freezer is up, remove and enjoy!
You can also skip the popsicle sticks all together and cut the frozen bananas in to bite size treats! Yum!
