When the weather starts getting nice we love to head outdoors. One of our favorite outdoor activities is Geocaching. Ā It combines hiking and trekking through the woods with the fun of a treasure hunt. Ā Geocaching is great for all ages! Ā Ā You don’t need much to get started, you just need a handheld GPS or Geocaching app on your phone and a sense of adventure.
Here’s what we packed forĀ our afternoon of Geocaching:
- Bottled Water
- Tree Top Apple Sauce Pouches
- GPS (Geocaching app on your phone works too!)
- Small Trinkets (to exchange when we find a Geocache)
We stopped by our local Fred Meyer to pick up the Tree Top Apple Sauce pouches. Ā In an effort to bring awareness to āRaising Good Applesā, Tree Top is partnering with the National Gardening Associationās KidsGardening.org to help educate kids on gardening. Ā For every box of Tree Top Apple Sauce Pouches purchased through 5/31 Tree Top will donate $1 to help KidsGardening.org to help build and grow youth gardens. Ā I love that!
We found our first geocache fairly quickly. Ā We brought along my five year old nephew for his first geocaching adventure and he was a little disappointed to find out there wasn’t “real” treasure inside the box. Ā I think he was expecting a box full of gold coins. Ā Ā Once we told him he could exchange one of the trinkets we brought for something fun inside the box he was happy.
Our next geocaching location had us heading to theĀ Arboretum at our local park. Ā Nothing beats walking around in the great outdoors, it’s beautiful! Ā Ā This geocacheĀ was a lot trickier to find than our first one.Ā Ā We spent aĀ goodĀ 30 minutesĀ combing the areaĀ until we finally found it.
Since the geocache at the Arboretum took more effort than we expected we stopped for a snack and water break.
The Tree Top Apple Sauce Pouches were perfectĀ to bring along because theyĀ are made with wholesome, simple ingredients and the make a great on-the-go snack. Ā I love that the Tree Top pouches come in lots of great flavors in addition to just apple. Ā TheĀ Strawberry Apple andĀ Mixed Berry Apple are some of our family faves.
I love that Tree Top is a local company, it’s located in my home state of Washington, right in the heart of apple country. Ā Tree Top is a grower-owned co-op with deepĀ rootsĀ in the community. Ā For more than 50 years, Tree Top has been delivering top-quality productsĀ withĀ premium ingredients inside all their sauces,Ā juices and smoothies.
Once we were done snacking we headed out for more geochaching. Ā We had a fabulous dayĀ spending some quality family time outdoors. Ā Ā You can’t beat a day filled with exercise, fresh air,Ā beautiful sceneryĀ andĀ family fun. Ā If you haven’t tried geocaching I encourage you to give it a go this spring. Ā It’s great fun for the whole family and it’s frugal too!

We love to plan family fun days where we pack a lunch and head out to explore a park, trail, wetland, etc. We have found some hidden gems through our adventures, our girls love them and the cost is minimal or nothing!

Being outside and listening to the birds, smelling the fresh air, seeing the new buds on the trees. It’s so fun to discover nature with little ones in tow! Everything is an adventure.

Our town just finished another section of the rail trail, a paved pathway for bikes, scooters, people, dogs etc as long as its not motorized. There is just so many miles connecting towns, we love to take our bikes, our dogs, our friends and walk, ride or run and enjoy all the scenery and meet new people from our town others

We love exploring our area parks! The best ones have room for the kids to rollerblade or bike, but we find joy in every outing. Thanks for the awesome contest! Looks like you all had a great time, and we’ll add geocaching to our list!

We’ve gone to one of the many U-pick farms (strawberries, blueberries, peaches and apples) and picked fruit which is then used fresh (sometimes right there on the farm) or frozen for future consumption. My son started as a 3 week old baby in his carrier, and was placed under the shade of the blueberry bushes while Mom and Grandma picked berries overhead. Other times, we took the kids play group to the apple orchard for U-pick. Some of the trees were dwarf and kids were able to pick their own fruit, and were then treated to stickers and fresh apple juice courtesy of the farm.

My niece and nephew are always involved in something to keep themselves busy and out of trouble. Right now they are in swim school, gymnastics, along with school and go to church every Sunday and Wednesday.

They do have 3 dogs and have a pool, trampoline, and a mini playground in their own backyard. They also go on bike rides and their mom and dad try to keep them very active also. Sorry, I posted before I realized I had more to say.

One of our favorite things to do is go on bike rides around the neighborhood. There is a small park nearby that we sometimes bike to. Our town also has a really nice park with 2 play areas, and a walking track around a large pond that houses geese and ducks. We love to spend the afternoon there walking, playing and feeding the ducks!

We love to take bike rides around our neighborhood in the evening as the sun sets, especially in the summertime! It is so pretty and peaceful at that time of day.

I think it is so important that kids know where food comes from and what is in their food! Spring and summer are my very favorite times of the year because we garden together and talk about how important it is to understand healthy eating. Nothing beats fruits and veggies right out of our garden!
Kristin Goodson says
My son loves to help me garden. He usually enjoys digging for worms and chasing the birds, but he seems to enjoy nature. I try to take him outside a lot so he stays active and gets a lot of fresh air. I want him to love nature and animals just like I do.
